The Department of Antiquities of Cyprus is the government agency responsible for the protection, conservation, and enhancement of the island's archaeological and cultural heritage. Established in 1935, the Department plays a crucial role in the management of archaeological sites and museums both archaeological and ethnographical. It is also involved in restoring and promoting monuments, sites and artefacts of great value, ensuring that Cyprus’s cultural heritage is safeguarded for future generations. Additionally, the Department collaborates with international organizations such as ICOMOS and UNESCO to promote conservation and research, making Cyprus an important destination for cultural and archaeological tourism.
